Turn Off Automated Trading

When a ChaosHunter Trader chart enters a position, that position is stored with the chart.   If you turn off automated trading and once again turn it on, the model will produce future trading signals based on that stored chart position.  The ChaosHunter Trader does not synchronize the chart with the current position in the IB Trader Workstation, which could have changed since automated trading was turned off due to a trade that was executed directly in the IB Trader Workstation.  You have the option of clicking on the Reset Position button in ChaosHunter Trader to return a chart's position to neutral. Clicking on  the Reset Position button turns off Automated Trading.   You must click on the Automated Trading button in either the Master Control Panel or the Chart Toolbar to restart active trading.

Forced Shutoff

If by the end of a bar an order issued on the previous bar is not completely filled, Automatic Trading is turned off.   If trading is shutoff, a message is posted in the Order/Trade Log in the Trader Workstation Data Display.

If Automated Trading is turned off and you did not initiate the action, investigate the problem and correct the problem before you once again turn on Automated Trading. Click here for information on how to correct the problem.

Manual Shutdown of Trader Workstation

If you manually shut down Trader Workstation while ChaosHunter Trader has charts loaded, the ChaosHunter Trader will reload all charts with the last chart position when the connection is restored. The ChaosHunter Trader does not synchronize the chart with the current position in the IB Trader Workstation, which could have changed since the shutdown due to a trade that was executed directly in the IB Trader Workstation.

Internet Connection Lost

If your computer's internet connection is lost, the Trader Workstation will no longer be connected to Interactive Brokers.  The Trader Workstation and ChaosHunter Trader programs will continue to be connected in your computer.  A notice that the internet connection has been lost will appear in the ChaosHunter Trader's Messages from IB tab of the Trader Workstation Data Display. ChaosHunter Trader charts store the last position entered.  The ChaosHunter Trader does not synchronize the chart with the current position in the IB Trader Workstation, which could have changed since the lost connection due to a trade that was executed directly in the IB Trader Workstation.

Trader Workstation Auto Logoff Timer

The Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation requires that the program automatically logs off once a day.  You can specify the time the logoff will occur in Trader Workstation by going to the Configure menu, Configuration, Lock and Exit, and specifying a time that will not interfere with your trading hours.

Sound Alerts

You can set a sound alert when the ChaosHunter Trader disconnects from the IB Trader Workstation or when the IB Trader Workstation loses the connection to Interactive Brokers.  The alert is set on the Tools menu, Options.
