TWS API

Historical data requests pacing delay, sec: Interactive Brokers limits the frequency with which the ChaosHunter Trader can request historical data.  This option allows you to slow down the requests so that Interactive Brokers does not object and respond with an error called a pacing violation.  For more information, see Historical Data Limitations.

Sound Alerts

You have the option of setting a sound alert for two conditions:

TWS disconnect:  click on the TWS disconnect checkbox to play a sound when the ChaosHunter Trader disconnects from the IB Trader Workstation or when the IB Trader Workstation loses the connection to Interactive Brokers..  To change the default sound, click on the Select button and choose any of the sounds on the list.  When you select a sound it will play in your computer, or you may click on the Play button to hear the sound.

Trade signal: click on Trade Signal checkbox to play a sound when a trading signal is produced either automatically or manually by any of the charts in the workspace.  To change the default sound, click on the Select button and choose any of the sounds on the list.  When you select a sound it will play in your computer, or you may click on the Play button to hear the sound.

Log Files

Check the box beside Log "No Signal" events if you want to see notifications upon the completion of each bar when a trading signal is not generated.  The events are recorded in the Order/Trade log in the IB Trader Workstation Data Display.  One reason to log "No Signal" events is to monitor model behavior.  For example, a model that is not producing trading signals because there is not enough historical data to compute the formula is a different situation than a model that does not produce a trading signal because the computed value of the model does not exceed a trading threshold.

Maintenance

The ChaosHunter Trader generates the following log files:

Data.log stores information about program start and end times, as well as start and end times for each symbol.

IB_API.log stores details about connections to the IB Trader Workstation.

Orders.log contains details about trading signals generated by the ChaosHunter model, as well as detailed trading logs.  Displays the realized and unrealized profit/loss.  The figures are updated approximately every 3 minutes.

Untraded Model Predictions.log stores information about trading signals for charts with models that are not currently being traded.

All of the files are text files that may be read in a program such as Windows notepad.  The log files record the last 7 days of activity.  The files are stored in the Logs directory inside the C:\ChaosHunter Trader\Logs subdirectory on your computer if you installed the software in the default directory.   The log files remain on your computer until you delete them by clicking on the Delete Log Files From Disk button.
